Window vs. Erik
As I mentioned before, Hershey had taken issue with the neighborhood cats on the porch, and the only thing in her way was a pesky window.

She had, amazingly and thankfully, stayed inside even after breaking it. She was not without consequences however. Three staples, two bandaged paws, and one cone of shame later and all was well. Mostly.

Hershey vs Window
I came home a few Fridays ago thinking I would have a nice relaxing weekend. That wasn’t what I got.
The first indication something was off: Hershey’s celebratory barking was much louder than usual. I thought she was just extra excited for me to be home… Then I got to the front door.
It became immediately apparent WHY her barking was so much louder and I had a pretty good idea from past experience what had happened. If any of the CSI series are to be believed, all the glass on the outside indicated the force breaking the glass must have come from the inside.

What the Dog Found: A Photoessay of Canine Archeology
My house, a California Bungalow, sits at the edge of The Tower District, one of Fresno’s oldest neighborhoods, and certainly its funkiest. During The Year Which Shall Not Be Named I quietly celebrated a milestone as my home of 15 years reached its centennial.
During the last 7 of those years I’ve had a resident archeologist on the premises at all times. I’ve shown you some of her digs before, and now as my house moves into its second century I’d like to share some of her findings.

Throwback Thursday: The Mighty Bell
The Mighty Bell first appeared on January 6th, 2016. It was the second entry on my newly minted blog! It is reproduced here with some updates and additions by kind permission of the author, who, being me, was very gracious of myself.
About a year into living with Hershey I started losing sleep. Not due to worry, or stress, but to the application of a large, wet nose to the soles of my feet.
Hershey had, using her powers of observation, noticed two things:
1) As the only human in the house, I was responsible for feeding her.
2) I usually fed her shortly after waking up.
Using perfectly sound dog logic she came to the following conclusion:
If I was awake earlier, she would eat earlier.
Thus began Operation Enduring Moistness.
