When I got Hershey during an adoption day at Petsmart the adoption package came with a free exam from their in-house veterinary partner Banfield. After the exam I signed Hershey up with a wellness plan. As she got older the wellness plan has changed to include things like teeth cleanings. Continue reading “Teeth Cleaning Recovery”

“A memory”
Facebook is annoying. Facebook is intrusive. Facebook will destroy us all. But in between pushing unwanted knowledge at us (No, I don’t need to know what a friend of a friend ‘liked’ on a complete stranger’s page) and getting all up in our Continue reading ““A memory””

Graham’s Story: The Meeting
One afternoon, a week or two after I’d bought Hershey’s radio controlled car we went to the local park. It’s a big one with tennis courts, playgrounds and the nearest dog park. Our objective today wasn’t the dog park but the tennis courts. I thought the RC car would be far more fun if it had a hard surface to run on and build up some speed.
The indoor stick
Hershey eventually likes to take the indoor toys outside, a fate from which they never return. In this case it’s not so much a banishment as it is a return.
The indoor stick had languished in the toy basket for months with nary a sniff. Then a few weeks ago they got interested in it again. Now apparently it’s of no further indoor use.
Graham’s Story: The New Toy
A few years back, when Hershey was the only dog, we discovered an exciting new toy. One day at one of the dog parks we went to there was suddenly a commotion at the fence, and Hershey was right in the middle of it. While often “commotion at the dog park” is a synonym for “unexpected trip to the vet” it was not the case that day.

A Tail Tale
This is Hershey’s tail:
It is a big, meaty, beaty, club of a tail that she flails around with reckless (and sometimes wreckful) abandon. Many a shin and knee has been assaulted by this fearsome bludgeon of joy.
